Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a very elegant and refined system of medicine, which generates a state of well-being, by activating the body’s own healing mechanisms.

The oldest evidence of acupuncture in the world was found in the European Alps, where a man with osteoarthritis was discovered frozen in the ice and dated to have passed away 4,000 years ago. There were a number of acupuncture points tattooed on his body. These points were the same as those that would be used today to treat arthritis. It is quite possible that this form of treatment was in common use throughout Europe at that time.

Modern science has enabled us to demonstrate clearly the location of these points. This is done with the use of equipment that measures the changes in electrical charge at the specific acupuncture points on the body. This equipment can be demonstrated in the clinic, a should you wish.

Different points have different actions on the body, according to location.

Acupuncture is very safe, the fine needles are sterile and disposable (never reused) and stringent hygiene standards are applied.

Paul has qualified in and studied many styles of acupuncture, initially in college to degree standard - both Five Element and Traditional Chinese styles of Acupuncture and since then - Japanese, Korean, Scalp,The Five needle technique, Channel theory technique, Trigger point technique, Muscular skeletal techniques, Auricular, Hand acupuncture, two more styles based on ancient approaches and a further two styles based on more recently discovered systems. For many of these styles Paul has had to travel as far as China to learn. In clinical practice he has found that each of these diverse approaches has its own merits and may be very good at treating a specific condition or an approach may be particularly suited to an individual. The choice of styles insures each needle will be comfortable for an individual whilst maintaining its effectiveness.
